Kera participated in this year's ICD as part of a team alongside Hiroyuki Obayashi (Chairman of ICD Japan) and Hiroki Matsuki (D.C.T.). “Esprit (Spirit)” was the theme of their 15-minute demonstration, which took a philosophical approach towards using hair design to express the spirituality of being a hairstylist.
Using white as his main color, Kera created a unique world in which modernity mingled with the Middle Ages. The models had their hair backcombed and teased into voluminous and well-designed styles, with plaster masks placed like hairpieces on the backs of their heads, showcasing Kera's distinctive creativity. When the models on the runway turned around, the audience was surprised by the illusion of another face, which livened up the venue.

Shiseido Chief Artistic Director Hirofumi Kera appeared at the 2024 Intercoiffure Asia Congress (ICD) in Tokyo, which was held on April 23.
The venue welcomed over 1,000 visitors from all across Asia, who filled the place with excitement in anticipation of seeing the outstanding techniques and performances of hair and makeup artists representing their respective countries and the latest expressions of beauty with their own eyes.

NGFJ：National Guillaume Foundation Team Team was especially well received by the audience, who were fascinated by the hairstyles of the six models, each of whom gave off a strong sense of diversity and individuality.
Korea: The Korean team has attracted attention under the name of “K-Beauty.” They demonstrated their styling techniques, using both curling irons and flat irons, on models resembling female K-Pop idols who included dancing in their performances.
Legends Show：At the end of the program, Masa Ohtake (Shiseido) caused a great stir by making a surprise appearance not listed in the program. He showed off his outstanding skills by transforming the elegant updo hairstyles of his female models, all clad in red dresses, one after the other.
What is the Intercoiffure Asia Congress?
The Intercoiffure Congress hair design shows are organized by the Association of World-Famous Hairdressers. They reflect the trends popular among the women living in the cities of each country, and use models from those countries to show off stylish hair designs and allow attendees to experience the latest developments in the field.
The Asia Congress was held this year in Tokyo. The next international show, held once every four years, will be hosted by Germany in 2025.
