On August 31, 2026, Teruaki Shinjo served as the chief hair and makeup artist for the "yoshiokubo" runway show held at Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO.

yoshiokubo Spring/Summer 2027 Runway Show “Natural Born Nomads”

Following the previous season, the 2027 SS collection continues to explore the concept of running. Under the theme "Natural Born Nomads," the show drew inspiration from "nomad runners" who move by their own free will. Set against a backdrop dominated by a traditional Mongolian yurt (ger), models showcased a layered wardrobe adapted to changing climates. Incorporating movie-inspired cord braiding reminiscent of bones, snake motifs, and earth tones suited for desert landscapes, the collection captured a free-spirited nomadic persona where daily life seamlessly meets functionality.

Key Hair & Makeup Concepts

Drawing inspiration from Mongolian nomadic heritage and the grueling nature of trail running, the hair and makeup depicted the realistic elements of sweat and dust. A contemporary ethnic mood was created by combining gritty, disheveled hair textures with distressed makeup techniques and color accents.

Makeup:
While keeping the base makeup sheer to preserve natural skin texture, shadows were randomly diffused from the eyes across the nose and brows to simulate authentic dust and grime. For female models, a lower blush placement paired with mascara on both upper and lower lashes added dimension. Finally, accent colors were applied around the eyes to lend a modern edge.

Hair:
Multiple styling products were layered section by section and worked with a diffuser to form natural, effortless waves. Drying the roots while pinching them created random, organic lift, delivering a raw, disheveled, and textured look.
