GAKU “Wabi and Sabi” 4th Term Event

Hirofumi Kera, Chief Hair & Makeup Director of Shiseido and the principal of SABFA, has been involved with "GAKU,” a creative learning space for teenagers, since 2022. The class "Wabi and Sabi" has completed its fourth term. The final lesson included an exhibition event held at Shibuya PARCO, where Kera and Taniguchi took the stage.

The fourth term of "Wabi and Sabi" was held from September 2024, consisting of 11 sessions aimed at deepening and broadening students' awareness of beauty, along with practical lectures on makeup techniques for expressing beauty.

Comment from Hirofumi Kera:
"This was the fourth term, and each time I am inspired by the things noticed by the students. During this sensitive period of their teenage years, I find their sincere and pure approach to expressing “their own new beauty” dazzling and feel an immense energy from them. I feel that we tend to overly question what is correct regarding trends and beauty, trying too hard to find answers. If the new beauty of the future is shaped by the thoughts of these young people, it will be free from comparison. The process of creating beauty and the value of being different itself holds beauty. I feel that a new era is approaching where this will be recognized. We need to realize that behind overwhelming beauty lies a new value, and we must take the lead in advocating this."
